Embryo Transfer Allows For Design of

Greater Percentage of Buckers

Embryo Transfer is the process of removing embryos from a superior (genetically) cow and placing the embryos in a surrogate cow (a cow which has proven to raise good calves) where they develop the calf.  The process is comparable to artificial insemination, which uses sperm of great bulls (that are not accessible to breed cows) to reproduce great genetics in cattle by artificially inseminating semen in cows that also have the great genetics.

The first step in embryo transfer is the super ovulation (production of many eggs through the use of hormone injected in the cow) of the cow with superior genetics also referred to as the donor cow.  At the same time, the recipient cows are synchronized.  This will insure the recipient cows cycles are synchronized with the donor cows. The donor cow can be bred or artificially inseminated by a genetically superior bull and then the embryos are taken from the donor cows and transferred to the recipient cows.  This process allows for the production of many calves from a cow that is a proven producer of good bucking stock where normally she could only produce one calf per year.  This process also allows the breeder to create many calves from two specific genetics where normally you are limited to the number of cows you have with the genetics you want.

The initial cost can be what many would classify as too expensive and the commitment required to follow an exact schedule is to demanding for most breeders.  Bucks By Design is committed to living up to it's name and designing many BUCK$ and therefore looks as the expense and the demanding schedule as nothing more than an investment.
